„Ageing & Loneliness“

For the aging population, loneliness is more than a state of mind – it is an emerging risk factor that has implications for personal, economic and societal well-being. Memories often go back to older days and dedicated locations, like the „Veedel“ (town area) in Cologne and experiences at special occasions. (see IBM Study )


How can we help older adults strengthen their social fabric and reconnect to others.

Actual Challenge

Use state-of-the-art technology, for example provided by IBM, to overcome this problem.
How can access to memories be triggered – by photos, sounds or other means, and how can the memory „bits“ be used for social interaction?
How can thus local information on activities be integrated to get older adults out of their home and back into the communities and subsequently reduce the risks of frailty and dementia that are associated with inertness, physical and cognitive?
